Supporting a local college with graphical board

We've been helping a local college out with material for their GCSE Art and Resistant Materials coursework for a few years now and when they contacted us recently to ask if we could continue to support them, we were only too happy to offer some graphical board. With tight constraints on local authority budgets these days and the juggling act head teachers have to perform-Craig Curtis, Hamilton College's Assistant Head of Faculty and Teacher of Design Technology has always been greatly appreciative of the support we can offer.

Our I.T. Director, Phil Richardson is soon to retire

As if losing one long serving member of staff to retirement wasn't enough for us to cope with-we're having to say goodbye to Phil Richardson, our I.T. will we cope! Phil joined the company in 1997 but we'd had the pleasure of getting to know him during the previous 10 years when he worked on a consultancy basis developing and supporting our systems. We sat Phil down over a cuppa to chat about the last 20 years.

Andy Wrigley, Sales Director set for retirement

October 31st sees the end of an era for Warren with the retirement of our Sales Director, Andy Wrigley. Andy joined the company in May 1985 in a sales role and joined the board of Directors in January 2001. At the time Andy joined Warren had just relocated from West Drayton to the current Leicester base, although the company was to retain an office in the South. We sat Andy down with a coffee to talk us through his thoughts and feelings on the last 32 years of his working life.

In memory of Chris Fryer

Earlier this month we commemorated the untimely passing of a dear colleague, Chris Fryer. Chris worked in the role of Maintenance Engineer at our West Bromwich Converting facility, a position he held for some 15 years. Chris' colleagues didn't want the day to pass by without marking the occasion in some way, and befitting a man with the surname of Fryer the decision was made to indulge in that hearty breakfast fare....the fried bacon butty.

The Ensocoat Tour bus spends the day at Warren

6th July 2017

Last Monday we welcomed customers to our West Bromwich facility to see the Stora Enso Ensocoat Roadshow Bus and all that it had to offer. The Roadshow started in Dusseldorf early May, stopping off at customers' sites throughout Europe.

Was it tough? Was it muddy? ....You bet!

Back in May we gave news of our Credit Manager, Tracey's intention to take part in the Midlands Tough Mudder Challenge - well, she did it. A couple of weeks ago in sunny, but not too hot conditions, the team started the day off by joining their fellow competitors in a 15 minute warm-up session before starting the challenge at 9.45am.

Tracey Campbell gets in training for a Tough Mudder Challenge

4th May 2017

When our Credit Manager, Tracey missed out on taking part in the Leicester half marathon last year she was disappointed her training had gone to waste and that she wouldn't be able to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society in memory of a dear auntie and uncle who had both suffered from the condition. When a family member suggested she should take part in the Midlands Tough Mudder Challenge she keenly signed up to join a team set up by her partner's brother-in-law.

Earlier this year we received the 2016 Ghana Annual Report from Action Aid-the charity we have supported for over 25 years. The national and community work carried out by the charity continues as does their work in changing government policies.

The opening of Bodie's Boathouse and the 5th Annual Sports Dinner

It's been a while since we last wrote about the Bodie Hodges Foundation and the amazing achievement of Bodie's family in raising money to fund a holiday home for families facing the loss of a child. Four years ago our former colleague Nick Hodges and his wife set out to raise money to provide a holiday home to give respite for families. We're delighted to tell you that last October they achieved their goal of creating a lasting legacy in memory of their son Bodie with the opening of 'Bodie's Boat House' on the edge of Tallington Lakes in Stamford, near Peterborough.

We're celebrating our Ruby Anniversary - 40 years and counting

We're cock-a-hoop about reaching a tremendous milestone in our company's history and by way of celebrating our 40th year and, as a give-away to our customers, we have had some milk chocolate bars wrapped in a very special Warren personalised sleeve. The chocolate bar wrappers have been printed on LumiArt 115 gsm, supplied by StoraEnso and printed on a five colour Komori 28, using low migration inks and a water-based coating. The wrappers were then trimmed and hand-wrapped and taped and very nice they look too!

Steve met the challenge face on!

He did it..... Our inside sales exec Steve Pincott and his chums completed the Three Peaks 24-hour challenge and with time to spare.
They set off from home on Friday 14th October for a flight to Glasgow and after being met at the airport by event organiser Maximum Adventure they travelled over to Fort William to meet their fellow climbers and to enjoy a meal out and a few beers.

The latest update we have from Action Aid in Ghana includes a letter from 19 year old Mary Banda. Here Mary tells her story of family bereavement and severe financial difficulties for her mother and four siblings but it's also a story of achievement and hopefully a bright future for Mary as she pursues her dreams of becoming a doctor.
